Dogs are considered man’s best friend and have been excellent companions to their human friends for centuries, but some breeds are also bred for other reasons such as hunting and as guard dogs.
However, some breeds have a bad reputation and have been used by some for illegal dog fighting and as a weapon for their owners; this breed is the pit bull. But for responsible dog owners this breed hasn’t been a problem, for the most part.
The problems are rather that they end up with the wrong owner training the dog to do things that are not in his nature and becoming aggressive.
When the Daniels family from Ohio decided to adopt former homeless pit bull Ember they didn’t consider the breed’s bad reputation. The family had previously had a dog of the same breed and they weren’t at all worried that anything might happen.
They did not imagine what decision would change the life of the family.
The more Ember was a part of the family, the closer Ember and the couple’s 10-year-old son Tre became.
Ember has always wanted to be with the boy and the two have developed a strong bond and mutual understanding.
Mom Tracy loved how close her son had become to the dog and had no idea how it would develop. Then, one day, she was awakened by a strange sound.
Ms. Daniels said she woke up to the sound of Ember making a strange noise and walking. She followed the family pet into the bathroom and realized the gravity of the situation.
He discovered his son’s feet hanging over the side of the bathtub. He looked as if he had fallen, his head tilted back.
Tre had had a seizure and was able to get the medical help he needed immediately thanks to quick acting and the faithful pit bull.
Tests were done on Tre and the doctors concluded that everything would be fine, but who knows what would have happened if the family didn’t get help for him right away.
Today, the family is forever grateful to Ember.
The organization that the family adopted Adore-A-Bull’s Ember hopes stories like this one can help people understand that these dogs make faithful pets when treated well.
Dad Tony, who is a firefighter, said he understood why people were wary of the breed, but more often than not their behavior could be attributed to the owner rather than the dog.
